Overview

Management streams. The flagship courses at IITB include BTech, MTech, and MBA. IIT Bombay has recently launched 2 professional certificate programmes, namely, Professional Certificate in Software Development and Professional Certificate in Cybersecurity. Further, the institute also offers interdisciplinary programmes and short-term and distance learning courses.

The institute has 17 academic departments, 30+ centers, and 3 schools to offer more than 80 courses. IIT Bombay also facilitates various research programmes in domains such as science and technology such as , Aerospace Engineering, Biosciences and Bioengineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Machine Intelligence and Data Science, Energy Science and Engineering, etc. Admissions to the institute are accepted through national-level tests conducted by various authorities, such as JEE Advanced, GATE, etc.

IIT Bombay is ranked 3 under the 'Overall' and 'Engineering' categories by the NIRF Rankings 2025. It is also ranked #129 in the World University category by the QS Rankings 2026. IITB faculty is highly qualified, dedicated, and experienced and hold prestigious awards such as, the Shanti Swaroop Bhatnagar and Padma honours.
